do you have to use text speak, it's infuriating.

 tile adhesive, sticks like s**t

Hi.

How did you get on with the fireplace ? Should be doing the same thing myself this weekend.

Cheers,
Rich.

Hi, can either of you tell what you ended up using to stick the limestone fireback (three pieces) to the wall with (product name), not been able to find a white bonding plaster, dont want any colour bleeding through, bedded hearth on sand and cement but used a damp course as barrier.

Not sure if to seal back of limestone and use ordinary bonding plaster

keyo - the traditional way of fixing chimney pieces (fire surrounds) in position is to use Plaster of Paris and wire ties. P of P is readily available. Another advantage of using this stuff is that it hardens really quickly, oh, and it's white.

I did the this last year. In the following steps…
1. bed the hearth. My floor was flat and the hearth thick so I used a silicone sealant to keep it in place. But you can use a weak mix if preferred or the floor uneaven.
2. Fix the legs to the wall and the hearth. I used tile cement for the wall and 4:1 mix for the legs to hearth joint.
3. The slips are then attached to the wall with tile cement.
4. Put the head on. I used brackets attached to the back of the head and attached to the wall both will rawlplugs. A generous helping of tile cement for added secutity.
5. The mantle is then cemented directly onto the head… job done.

Blue circle gives the lightest colour mortar.

regards

Bobby
