I am installing a marble fireplace and need to enlarge the opening on the back from 16" wide to 18". I have an angle grinder and a stihl saw. What type of blade should I use, carbon or diamond? Should I cut dry or wet? Should I stick to my day job?..... I don't know but I know a site that does.

Any advice gratefuly received,

you will never achieve the precise machine cut edges that a masons lubed saw can give. you will end up with a splintered, wonky/straight cut at best! this is provided the cutter does not skid, jump or bounce!!

But if the fire has a surround that will cover the wonkey edge it should look fine. Diamond blade by the way.
