First fixing kitchen new stop tap

Hi I have a kitchen to first fix. The stop tap at present that was very stiff to move at first comes off a tiny bit of lead suck up through the floor. Now I have turned the stop tap on and off a few times it moves ok. Would it be worth cutting a new stop tap in up stream off this with the original one being so old.

Yes, use a full bore lever valve.

Yes, open the old one fully and then turn back half a turn. After you have fitted the new one of course

Thanks is there any thing I can do about having the old stop showing through the back of the new kitchen units

Also make sure the gland nut is tight on the old stop cock and not leaking.
