Hi

Following on from an earlier question I have recentled fitted a close coupled WC and cistern.

I wanted the cistern to fit tight to the tiled wall as it looked the neatest and allowed the lid to sit well on top of the cistern.

I managed to do this through a combination of adjusting the wing nuts which secured the cistern to the WC and the wood screws which secured the cistern to the tiled wall.

I used tap washers between the internal wall of the cistern and the wood screw to provide some amount of cushioning.

I was also careful not to secure the cistern too tight to the wall.

When I looked into the gap at the front between the cistern and the WC I can see the large rubber gasket ( donut ) and noted that it is more compressed at the rear in comparison to the front.

This is because the cistern is tight to the wall.

Is this okay or should I compromise on having the cistern tight to the wall so that the rubber gasket ( donut ) can compress more at the front.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If it dosn't leak it's up to you to see if it looks ok.

Seems to me the cistern is leaning back slightly, hence not sitting on the doughnut washer squarely. You can either move the top of the cistern forward so it is away from the wall - put tap washers behind the cistern (as well) to pack it forward. Tile behind the cictern ?

Alternately, move the toilet back if you have some play in the toilet connector.
