Hi

My old Covec 45 BF boiler (the one doesn't use electricity) not working at all. I am in the process of replacing the boiler and in the mean time I want to fit a Immersion heater to the Elson hot water tank for temporaly purposes.

Anyone got step by step guide or any advise?

Thank in advance

I fitted a immersion to an Elsan once .....boy, did it pong when switched on  I used a Essex Flange ;)

Breesey: I am not sure about the model of the Elson (at work now)

Essex Flange!? what if the cylinder cracks?
How can i control the heating temp ( i mean the immersion heater going to be working 24/7? )

Or is it better to call a plumber?

Have a word with http://www.elsonhotwater.co.uk/elson/elson.nsfth

The example below has a blanking plug (lower right) ready for the heater.

Even if you have a blanking plug fitted finding a plumber willing to work on such an old setup may prove difficult. The Corvec boiler is a museum piece so the tank must be very old.

The immersion heater contains a thermostat to prevent overheating and the unit is often connected to a timeclock.
