I am fitting a new acrylic bath and was wondering if the big 'W' shaped brackets that came with the bath actually screw into the base of it?

As far as I know, the frames don't screw into the bath.
The bath edge rests on the upward bits of the W, isn't there a fixing location under the bath rim?

There's no wooden base to the bath but there looks to be an extra moulded piece of acrylic that stretches near enough the length of the base

and that is wood covered in the fibreglass/resin. useally chipboard.

if you had no base you would go through the bottom only useally being 3mm thick. (cheap & chearful)

have you got 4 plastic cups that fit the the battern around the lip of the bath ?
the w then pushes into these and the centre of the w screws to the base chipboard.
then the screwed legs go in each side of the w.

no plastic cups, just what looks to be four crayon marks, that i presumed were where the top of the 'W' went, although there is nowhere for them to fit into. the open end of the tops of each 'W' seem to just rest on the lip of the bath

getting cheap then.
is the bath from a diy store ?

they use to come with 4 black plastic caps that screwed to the rim then the w pushed into these and little philips screws secured them
and two wood screws secured the w to the base.

yeah it's from Wickes,
have checked all the packaging on and around the bath and also gone through the box that contains the rest of the suite and theres no cups anywhere, should there be some and should i take it back?

Well there's nothing else for it then, you'll have to read the instructions.

theres the other problem, theres none of those either!!
would've expected a bag containing what u just described, all the other bits and bobs are there just nothing for the bath

i would say you have a bag of bits missing.

forget the instructions thats a thing of the past with diy stores.

Plan B worked, apparently the bag containing the fittings and instructions must've fallen off during transit!! all sorted now, thanks again for your help, now its time to work thru the night ha ha NOT!!!

you'll have that together in no time.
have you got the black plastic caps that i mentioned ?

its common with them numptys to loose or forget bits.
