Fitting a new Radiator in the front room.

Hello,

I’m hoping I can find the answers I need on this site.

I need to fit a new radiator in the front room where there isn’t one currently. The way I see it I have 2 options but would like to know which is best.

1. Would I be better off running new pipe from the combi boiler upstairs, which would mean laying new pipe under the floorboards into the stare room then down into the kitchen and through the wall into the front room.

Or

Can I run the pipes of the radiator in the kitchen straight into the front room?
The kitchen radiator would be smaller compared to the new one to be fitted in the front room, not sure if this would cause a problem or not.

Option 1 would of course involve a load more time, effort and disruption, but if it is the only way I will go with that, depending on the feedback I get.

What size of pipes feed the kitchen radiatior? As long as they are 15mm then option 2 should be fine.

Its difficult to give advice on this without seeing it or having a proper description with boiler model and total number of rads etc.

I will get the details of the boiler and pipes tonight and update my post with as much information as possible tomorrow.

Should be able to add to existing pipework from kitchen rad. obviously making sure you connect flow and return correctly, a final adjustment to the lock shield valve should be done afterwards until you are satisfied with the heat output.

Sorry for the delay the combi boiler I have is a Potterton Performa 28, gas fired wall mounted combination boiler.

The size of the pipes connected to the Kitchen radiator are 10mm.

There are 5 rediators in the house at present.

If only 10 mm then you need to take the new rad pipe back to the manifold or larger pipes close to the boiler.

You can use 10 mm if the run is similar dostance to the other rads. If much longer use 15 mm first so the length of 10 mm is similar to the others or a bit less if its heat output is much higher than the others.

Semi-Acoustic should stick to acoustics!
