Good evening all

Hopefully some one can help me. Im having pains with the site agent.
He wants me to install a bifold shower door before the tray has been Siliconed.
He says fit the door then he will silicon tray.

He's done hundreds like this and not one as ever leaked.

The correct way I tell him is after tiles
  • Silicon tray
  • Leave 24 hours
  • Fit the Screen /Door
  • only silicon on the outside
Simple But I cant find anything on th net to back me up can someone point me in the right direction.

I doubt you'll find anything saying "remember to fit the tray first". That's a given and you'd be mad doing it any other way.

Your way is the correct way...the shower door will be in the way when the tray goes down, never mind the problems with accuracy and levelling.
If he has done hundreds, I'd invite him to crack on!
John :)

Tell him you'll follow his instructions, only if he gives them to you in writing, and signs them.

If the door is fitted before the tray has been siliconed, then there will be a weak area between the siliconed tray, and the shower door frame, and as the silicone shrinks, it'll leak around that side of the shower door frame. But as long as it's been siliconed, you shouldn't have to wait more than a couple of hours before the door can go on.

I only silicone the tray behind the profiles when fitting the screen. That way you can carry on fitting the screen and leave all the "on show" Silicones until last. Can all be done in one visit that way.

Always do it that way myself, never had a problem
