Hi,

Quick one, what do people normally do in regards to silicone before installing shower doors/panels. Before I fit the rail to the wall, should I be applying a small amount of silicone between the tile and shower tray roughly to the width of the rail? Flush to the tile so the rail will sit flush to the wall?

Or do you just somehow do it after the rail has been fitted?

Photo attached, many thanks.

No, don't apply anything. Just screw to the wall. Then when all installed you silicone the outside, NOT the inside, unless instructions state otherwise.

For the shower tray you can if you wish. Can help with water sealing.

Many Thanks but won’t there be a gap behind the rail, between the tile and shower tray?

Ok, I understand you now. Yes, run a bead of silicone in that gap. You can run it all along the shower tray even. Just make it flush. Then apply the final sealant bead when all installed.

Thanks xd400, just to double check we are talking about the same thing. If I understand what you’re saying, then it’s ok to just run a small bead flush with the tile as per the red line in the photo? What do you mean I could run it all along the shower tray? Wouldn’t I silicone that as normal after? Appreciate your help

I won’t be installing the shower enclosure myself but is it ok to silicone just this bit myself before it’s installed?

Many thanks
