I want to fit an isolating valve to one of the hot water pipes that leads to basin tap.

Is a pipe slice the best way to cut it, if so what it the best type. Two commons types seems to be Kopex and Monument. Also I've seen an adjustable pipe slice which cuts different size pipes, is this better than one which cuts only a single width?

Next once I've cut the pipe do I need to clean up the end of it? if so what do I use?

Any help appreciated.

I've got a pair of Monument slices which are great, I've also got an old adjustable which, being bigger, is just a little harder to use in confined spaces.

Once you've cut the pipe, quick clean up with wire wool and fit your isolator.

You might need to cut the pipe twice to make room for your valve.
