Fitting Bath Waste connection

Hi,

I have been told that you can use plumbers mate when fitting the waste connection into a bath, is this right or is it better to use silicon sealant?

Every one to their own ! As long as you place all the washers in the right way ,smear a thin smear of silicon underneath will do the trick ,But as a say every one has diff methods .All work at end of the day but your gonny be using silicon anyway better than being left with a tub of mait if its only a one off.
