Hi
I want to fit some blinds in my window but there is a RSJ above and having trouble drilling the holes, tried no more nails which worked for a while but with the wife pulling them up and down all day they came down, is there any other way to do this????

phil - use a high-speed-steel twist drill (sometimes known as a 'Jobbers')in your electric drill to successfully get through the steel; start with a smallish size first to make a pilot hole, maybe a 4.5/5mm, then increase the size up (in stages if necessary) to whatever you need. Then standard wall fixings of your choice to hold the blind's brackets. Adhesives will, as you've discovered, never work.

Tip: get ½ a dozen pilots 'cos you're bound to break some.
