Just an update to let you know that I finally 'got' someone in to do the blinds and they turned out to be metal lintels or concrete full of metal bars so even he couldnt do it! Eventually he fitted them to the window, although I wasnt too keen on that as invalidates warranties!!! He also only used 1 screw on each end and when queried he said the other might be too near the glass!!!
So I now have privacy but only pull the blinds very VERY gently and never whilst drunk!
