Fitting ceramic disc kitchen mixer tap

Yes ceramic disc taps are more of a pain to repair and the cost of a couple of cartridges can be more than the 44 quid the tap costs, but ideal for your customer and they last fairly well. Go ahead and fit it best to fit isolating valves at the same time if it has none, then a swap will take no time at all if you are unlucky but doubt she will ever have a problem.

Yes but wet the O rings before screwing in to save them getting damaged

Thanks yes I always wet the o-rings in my mouth before screwing them up

Do you need to take the chrome covers off and tighten the ceramic cartridge in to the tap or should it come tight?

I think the flexis supplied with this tap are are 1/2" female on the connection side to the water mains. What fitting do I need to connect this is it a ball o fix valve (service valve)?

They are supposed to be fitted to a half inch comp iron which has a flat seating.

In practice, most people just screw them onto the iso valve.

That's the chap...Yup! Small tail of copper from the ISO valve then fix them on, flexi's fix onto them.

If going onto iso valves then just don't tighten them much, finger tight then a 1/4 turn max otherwise you burst the rubber washer and it's leak city.

As above or file a flat face on the iso valve to stop washer splitting.

Ermmm...yup, that's the chap. 2 of them or as gigz says, if you've got a fine metal file, file the lip of the ISO valve. Jobs a goodunn.
