Fitting drinking water (cartridge filter) hose to tap - fitting issue (Ed.)

After being unable to get at the drinking water cartridge on my three way tap I've bought a dedicated tap. However connecting it is proving tricky. The first one I bought came with two quick fit push connectors. One was 1/4" to 1/4" which the hose wouldn't fit into. It fit into the 1/4" to 3/8" adaptor but had a slow leak. So I swapped the tap for one with a 1/4" threaded end because that matched what my tap had and I could re-use the brass connector. Unfortunately it turns out that the old connector nut is for a marginally larger thread.

I think the new thread is M10 (albeit labelled as 1/4"). So what I need to know is the name of this type of connector:

(There's a nut that sits on the hose and stops it coming off the nipple) so that I can buy one for a smaller fitting.

Or some other way to connect a flexible hose to a threaded pipe.

If it helps the outside diameter of the drinking water hose is appears to be 10mm.

So I'm looking for a way to connect a 10mm flexible hose to a 1/4" steel threaded pipe.

When I had one of them, the company that sold the filter cartridges had a range of connectors and adaptors to suit customers with existing pipework in various sizes. Maybe your supplier does? It must be a problem that crops up often.

I have an idea we ended up with push-and-click plastic connectors.

A lot of the domestic filters are intended for the US market; may indeed be correctly labelled.
