I am fitting some kitchen worktop and have a straight join to make. I dont want to use a 'joining piece' as i would prefer a smooth join.

Is the only way to cut out for the clamps/bolts with a router ?

Can you join to pieces together using another method ?

Any other advice on this gratefully received.

Mark.

you can cut out for the bolts using a 35mm drill (hinge bit is ideal) drill to about 15mm deep then cut two slots between hole & cut edge and chisel out the waste,

You will still need to cut the mating ends true and cleanly.

Get a tube of colourfil or similar worktop joint filler to suit the colour of your worktop to fill the joint.
