Cut to length of 6" lead and lay it along the chimney upright face. Using a small level, mark all of the horizontal fold lines, level with the top of each brick. Take it away and mark your water line, your depth of lead fold and start cutting and bending.

I cant get my head round it at all...

Ive marked the water line 75mm as thats to the top of the soaker

Ive laid my 6 inch lead up against the brickwork and did line along the brick joints

But i cant get the triangle part as to form that it would cut below my water line..

I always use 175mm lead for step flashings. Also, if you superimpose the last picture over the one above it, it should give you a better understanding of what you need to do.

Yeah i mean i can do what that images shows but like i say that dont look like 75mm water line

Maybe have a look on line for Associated lead craftsmanship guide to sheet leadwork.
It's been regarded as just about the bible for leadwork for 50 odd years.
I'd actually trim soaker high down to 60 mm or so above roof covering.
65 mm water line and crack on.

I think ive managed to do it

Think is i dont have the same looking step flashing each side of the stack

But ive just noticed the stack is not central of the ridge so i suppose im never gonna get tge step flashing central in that case
