Hi,

Hopefully a simple one. What is the name of the fitting that connects the cold water feed to the toilet inlet? i.e. the one that you fit on the end of your cold feed and then screw to the toilet inlet? Is it just a tap connector - if so what size?

Thanks
Jon

you can either use a 1/2" x 15mm tap connector, or a 1/2" FI (female iron) x 15mm copper adaptor

I'm talking about the threaded pipe that pokes out the bottom of the toilets tank. You then screw your cold water feed onto this threaded pipe.
That "threaded pipe" is the float valve's inlet.

You screw the 1/2" tap connector onto this (with a fibre washer in between) and the 15mm supply pipe is attached to the tap connector, usually soldered but you can get push-fit or compression.

Most Plumbers Jon fit a combined tap connector/iso valve. This service valve is 15mm one end & 1/2" swivel connector on the other.

Don't forget a smear of bosswhite on the 15mm compression end of the isolator ;)

Fifteen by half (straight or bent) tap connector - or if you want to isolate the inlet valve in the future for repair or maintenance, fifteen by half (straight or bent) service valve.

Assuming that it is a 1/2" inlet valve and not a 3/8" as fitted to some imported cisterns nowadays.
