Fitting new loo

I'm replacing a very old loo. I have taken the old loo out, and the connection to the sewage system has a metal collar that is raised about two inches and has an inner softer metal collar which is cemented in. I have a Multiquick collar. Is it ok to just take the old metal collar off and insert the multiquick straight into the sewer pipe?

Sorry if it's a dumb question. I don't want to hack the collar off and then call a builder in.

yes as long as it seals ok

the collar will be cast iron the soft stuff is lead caulking
