I have bought a quadrant shower cubicle with a resin tray with no tiling upstand and I have been advised not to fit it because of the possibility of leaks. Is there a leakproof way of tiling on to a flat tray, it is going to be fitted on floorboards
You can get a sealing strip which provides the upstand. I'm not sure of the proper name but if you ask at the place you got your tray they will most likely be able to provide you with one.
Just make sure the tray fits well into the corner, use silicone to fill between the wall and tray.Tile down to the tray edge as you would a bath leaving about 2mm gap between tiles and tray.Once finished seal with silicone.
As you already mentioned tanking in your other post tank the walls before fitting the tray down to the floor.
