Fitting window to detached garage

I have a spare 1200mm wide window and thought about fitting it to the back wall of our detached garage for extra light.
I believe planning permission is not necessary but wonder if I have to seek building control to do the work.

Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

That's my thoughts, although I cannot find any real clarification on the issue.
On the building control site it says no permission is needed to build a detached garage as long as the floor area is 15sq m or less, but nothing about modifying it afterwards.

I'll put a External Solid Wall Single Leaf Angle Lintel anyway - so should be ok.
