Not as grand as some of the other projects here but wanted to share as I'm pretty happy I managed to get this done.

Back fence had been wobbly for a while so took to getting it sorted. The boards were mostly in ok condition just the posts had rotted through. Once the boards were removed you can see how badly it was leaning.

Next doors garden is around 30cm higher meaning the posts were in contact with the soil. This seems to be the reason they rotted through. I spend a good couple days digging and with the SDS getting the concrete and bottoms of the old posts out.

New posts bottoms were painted with bitumen paint to hopefully get a bit longer life out of them. I also used concrete gravel boards to hold back the soil and away from the posts.

Then preasure washed the old boards, repainted and got them nailed back up. Compared to digging out the posts and lugging around the gravel boards this was a dream.

Finished fence and now that's done I'm hoping to move on to a bigger project next of building a summer house/workshop. Yellow lines marked on the ground show where that's going. Last thing I wanted was to build that and have the fence fall on it so this has been all part of the prep-work.

Thanks for taking a peek at what I'm up to :)

Very neat job.

If you have any more to do, concrete posts last even longer. It is very wearisome to dig out rotten old posts.

If you like, you can use masonry paint to make concrete blend in with the woodstain I use "bitter chocolate" colour.

I was initially going to do concrete posts too but since I flipped the fence panels to the other side and cut them shorter so nothing except the gravel boards touced the soil I changed my mind and went wood.

Big part of the reason though was lugging those gravel boards around was pretty tough stuff on my own so after I got those I leaned a lot more to wood posts due to their weight ha.

Didn't even come to mind about painting them so good to know for next time around.
