I have just bought one of these thermostatic mixer showers

http://www.wickes.co.uk/red-plastic-wallplugs/invt/212535/

for the DIY cottage renovation I am in the midst of. It is to be fitted on a stud wall faced with 12 mm marine plywood to which a 3 mm thick decorative plastic panel will be fitted.

From the instructions supplied it is clear that the unit is supported only by its connections to the pipe work. What is needed behind the wall to support the pipes to ensure they can support the weight of the mixer unit.

Or is there a flanged adaptor or similar which can be fitted to the rear of the ply wood to anchor the pipework securely so it is able to take the weight.

There is easy access to the rear of the plywood.
