Hi group, does anyone know of anything that can be used to fill holes in MDF that after setting, will take a screw. One of the end panels of one of our kitchen unit doors is hinged onto a end panel of 12mm MDF.Unfortunately the screws have loosened and made the hole gouged out so that the screw will no longer grip.Help!!! thanks a lot in advance.John

Plastic padding [car filler] though kitchen unit doors are usually 20mm thick.

Thanks for replies guys, can't use bigger screws, original ones were 12mm long ,MDF is 12mm,allowing for thickness of hinge fixing, screws are maximum length, bigger gauge won't go through hinge fixing hole. Will woodfiller be strong enough, would mixing with a drop of PVA help???

You could always drill the fixing hole a bit, or as above fill with something and use the existing screws.

Not clear from your post why is door hinged to end panel and not the frame.?

Screwing hinges into the edge of 12mm MDF will inevitably weaken and tear causing the MDF to split. Not sure you will get a sufficiently strong fixing even with a repair.

As above, any idea why it is hinged like that? Maybe you could post a pic?

Thanks for the ideas guys, sorted by cutting rawlplugs to max.depth and super gluing in place. After leaving for 5 minutes, screws "bit"perfectly.Door works perfectly now ta!!!
