Flags soon escalated ... Rape attack on young Sikh womnan

That doesn't explain why there are protests in the UK against the actions of a country a thousand miles away, when other countries do, and have done, far worse yet get no criticism at all.

(Israel isn't the world's most high tech military, BTW)

It is also because Israel is an ally.

I believe the disgust in Britain is down to the confluence of circumstances I have mentioned. I can't think of a similar example in my life time. Maybe the siege of Sarajevo. Imagine if the USA blockaded Cuba to stop anybody escaping and then carpet bombed the island continuously for two years. I think that would garner a similar reaction. I have always been pro-Israel and was sympathetic at the start. But they have lost a lot of support, including from huge numbers of Jews worldwide.

But Saudi is arguably a closer partner than Israel, and they've been bombing Yemen for years with a civilian fatality total vastly greater than Gaza. And the UK and US have not just supplied a few aircraft parts, like they have for Israel, they are undertaking direct bombing raids and have been for some time. I'm not saying this war is unjustified, but if people really do want to protest about Western involvement in the killing of civilians, Gaza is not the best example.

In addition, protesters mostly claim they are 'just protesting genocide'. But they're not. They are protesting one specific example of genocide and ignoring the others. And that's a generous interpretation, because I don't believe that most of them care one jot about civilian deaths, whatever the country.

I think people probably overestimate crowds. Roughly how many would you guess are in this photo from yesterday which shows part of the crowd.

I wouldn't worry over it, he has a different opinion to yourself which we know you dislike. Your opinion is right and everyone else that disagrees with you is far right.
Healthy discussion is great, no issues at all with that.

Lies and misinformation are a different matter.

17,000 approx. That's the Imax.

I had to Google that yesterday! I couldn't work out where the demo started.

I actually worked it out as about 6,000 based on the crowd density and the area they are covering

I think they had a (vicar?) saying the Lords Prayer, not sure if he was a real man of the cloth or not.

It's a funny old game when folk start using religion. If God does exist, how the feck do they know the entity would support what they stand for?

It would be funny if Jesus Christ returned and started preaching that all countries should be opening their doors to literally anyone.

That would stump Yaxley-Lennon, Hopkins et al. who are shouting for a more Christian country.

Christian? You havin' a laugh?

;)
