flaky ceilings

hi
i've just striped paper from a ceiling and the plaster underneath is a bit flaky and soft , should i treat it with something before painting it?

If the plaster is flaky and soft then id suggest treating it to a good going over with a stripping knife! if its still bad then you really ned to get a plasterer in to have a look at it.

Thanks, done what u suggested and had to get plasterer in job done just looking for a painter and decorator now to do the ceiling, thanks

Youl be lucky to fnd someone just to paint the ceiling...grab a broom handle a roller and tray and a brush and do it yourself..save yourself a few quid.
