Flat lift stuck

When it got to the third floor, the lift stopped again and started clunking. It refused to come down just as described in the opening post.

What could the issue be?

It could be the car, misaligned with the floor level, it could be something obstructing the door track - leave it to the experts.

Get a lift maintenance company, the business or whatever it is might be able to claim a tax reduction on the repair made to the lift.

Specialist is on site right now.. Oh, it's so exciting :giggle:

Asked the chap if he knew what the issue was.

He said that it was 'too early to tell but the door is sticking on the 3rd floor' and he will work on it.

Will update when i have more info..

I have worked on lifts and having seen what goes wrong I generally take the stairs!

I spent 8(?) months working as a lift engineer's mate when I was younger. As previously mentioned, if the cables were to snap, the fall arresting devices (dogs) would promptly prevent free fall. It is true that hydraulic ramp lifts can creap downwards, but again, if all of the oil were to gush out, the dogs would kick in.

One of the most boring weeks of my life was being based at the old Daily Mail HQ whilst it was being refurbed. Once a day, I had to put two wires together to make the base of the hydraulic ramp lift go up or down so that the plasterers could safely plaster the opening. I was supposed to be on site in a tiny storage room for 8 hours in case they needed the base to be moved. I spoke to the site foreman and told him that I would head off to the nearest pub, and that if the car needed to be moved a second time, he could find me there. I spent more in the pub than I earned.

Update:

All sorted..

Cause - obstruction causing door jam

The Specialist made some adjustments around the door. He then took a screwdriver to clear the door track.

Chap took about 20 mins

To get the door open, he used a service key to turn a lock at the top of the door. He then pried the door open with his hands.

All in all, looked like easy work for the lad.

Lesson learnt - give the door track a wee hoover once a week.

Thanks for the help and advice guys

Is that the same guy, who delivers Milk Tray from an helicopter?
all because the lady loves Milk Tray
