Hi guys

Title says it all really i want to flat render over a terolean coated walls.

My question's are

1) what is the best way to prepare the wall. Standard PVA or is there better stuff out there, i think someone once told me there was some proper gear for the job.

2) Does it need a scratch coat. I want flat render and the teflon bumps seem as though they would give a good enough key but i am no expert.

Cheers in advance

I'd say the main concern is how well is the existing stuff stuck to the wall? That will have to take the whole weight of your render. If it's pulling away - forget it.

If its painted or got some coat over the top of it and its holding firm and not "boxy" then your only problem is suction. You wont have much to let the render adhere to the base. One of the ways to get it to grip would be to run an angle-grinder over it, criss-crossing it to get some suction thru the paintwork and then scratch it all and float it...,or you could hire a "needle- gun " and rough the top of it up and then go on it.....

it is on solid, that is why i dont really want to take it off. if it was all cracked and falling off i would have just hit it with a hammer.lol

Is there some sort of stronger pva that renders use ?
