i am building a flat roof on top of existing single skin brick wall enclosure/garage style walls, with a span of 2.6m and 4m length,
i have 6"x2" joists and firings cut to 1:50 gradient across the short span.
my plan was to affix a 4"x2" wall plate on top of the brick wall and stand the joists on top of this,
?what is the best way of fixing the whole wooden structure to the brick wall?
slightly concerned in case of strong winds lifting roof off!
what brackets to use? does it need strapping on??
any info gratefully received
thanks

Use restraint straps, those lengths of stiff metal with a bend on the end and full of holes. ;)

Don't just 'stand' the joists on the wallplate, decent sized right angle brackets, or better still 'truss clips'.

Google it, look on the Simpson and Sabrefix websites.

thankyou for that, thought i should be doing something, just wasn't sure
it's appreciated

you don't need a wall plate in this instance.

you could lay the joists straight onto the masonry then brick 'em in.

you could then use twisted straps fitted direct to the joists.
