Flat roofs

Can someone tell me what flat roofs are like these days if i was thinking of a kitchen extension , has thier design and quality improved these days, are they still quite a bit cheaper then a pitched roof still?

although they are less expensive than a pitched roof, they are relatively more expensive than flat roofs of old, particularly with the use of kingspan and cellotex type insulations.

coverd with lead they`re just as dear as they always were and last just as long :LOL: provided the Dingles don`t knick it :LOL:
 
As long as you understand that the felt needs replacing in about 10-15 years, then there is no reason dismiss them.
 
Flat roofs are ok if done right, the cheaper option of the two but pitch roofs look better imo tho, but I guess it all depend on £ :LOL:
 
I wish i had never read this thread as plans all drawn up now [flat roof].
Although i did plan on having it f/glassed any views on this method as well as cost ext will be 3.7mx8.9m .Surely f/glass should stand the test of time.

felt roofs done correctly and with good quality materials should last 30+ years, the manufacturers give at least 10 year guarantees on their products :)
