Hi. Is a low pitch (nearly flat) roof not worth spending money on?

I need to get my garage either repaired or rebuilt but, it's alongside the long edge of a pitched roof kitchen extension so it's difficult to do anything other than the nearly flat roof it already has (which is damp and needs redoing).

Cheers,
turnpike

There is nothing wrong with a flattie so long as it is done to a good standard. It is all too easy to do them badly.

The joists need to be of sufficient strength and spacing to prevent sag.

The firrings or diminishing strips need to be of the correct fall.

The deck needs to be minimum 18mm roofing ply.

The finished covering material needs to be done by a pro.

Thanks noseall. I've read so many negative comments about them I just wondered if I'd be making a mistake sinking any money into it. I'll get some quotes and as you say, try to make sure they know what they're doing.
