Hi, I want to change the washer on a dripping tap but when I removed the cap I was left with an almost ruined screw. It is impossible to fit a screwdriver into the groove. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies, I decided to replace the taps as suggested by Andy from @HERTS P&D. However, this lead to another dilemma...
When I turned the taps on to check for leaks (there weren't any from the taps) I noticed that the plastic flexi hose which leads to the waste/overflow pipe was leaking.
It seems the "female" connection is leaking water because it's connected downwards to a "male" rather than the other way around? Could anyone explain if this is the correct connection and how can I rectify it? Many Thanks.
