Hi,

I'm trying to raise the height of a concrete slab floor in my porch to match the rest of my house.

I need to raise it about 70mm. I can use a thin layer of self levelling to level it, but I can't use a deep levelling compound since the DMP for the porch masonry is about 30mm above current concrete slab.

I was thinking of using a floating floor.

I'm wanting to tile onto the floor so tiles and adhesive would take up about 13mm.

I was thinking of using:
Self levelling screed to get a consistent ~63mm from finished height.
25mm floor insulation (https://www.selcobw.com/jabfloor-70-floor-insulation-2400-x-1200-x-25mm)
25mm plywood.
13mm Tile and adhesive

Any thoughts? Cheers

Sounds like a plan.

Slip some DPM under the insulation. (y)

I just wouldn't tile a floating floor. Especially as it's a small area, it will bounce when walked on as the floor itself won't weigh much and I guess there won't be any furniture on it.

Perhaps small tiles might be OK, but I'd expect anything bigger to crack. Whatever the claims of manufacturers of flexible adhesive may say.

I put commercial grade vinyl in my bathroom with a floating floor. It looks great with careful fitting, contact adhesive and a bead of sealant all round. Long-lasting and non-slip. No grout to get dirty!
