Hello peeps I am planning to tile directly over a double sand cement render coat

Usually I would devilfloat  the top layer of render before applying finish

Does anyone else scratch render to give the tile adhesive a good key or does the extra weight of tiles mean this is a bad idea?

I don't want to go down the route of placing the tiles directly into the sand cement because I'm not very experienced with either render or tiling plus an extra layer of waterproof tile adhesive sounds good to me next to the shower

Should I waterproof the sand cement which will be next to the shower area?

Sorry one more q does dry floor screed need any kind of prep before floor tiling?

Any help greatly appreciated at anytime thank you

No need.

Not really - the render will not be affected by moisture, but it will absorb moisture...... so if you want a totally waterproof wall then you could tank it. Unless you were using small tiles, then I wouldn't bother personally.

Not normally, but check the directions on the bag of your chosen adhesive.
