I have a problem I can't figure out how to solve and hoped someone might have an idea of two. Siorry for long explanation.

There is a master bedroom wiith ensuite bathoom. Both rooms are carpetted with the same style of carpet with a metal strip that sits in the door frame beween the rooms to hold the carpet down. The carpet in the ensuite is damaged and I want to take it up, but keep the bedroom carpet as it is in good condition. I have lifted the ensuite carpet to have a shufty at what is underneath. There are floorboards in decent shape - so far so good. I want varnished floorboards in en suite. However, the problem is is that the floorboards are not continuous from the bedroom to the en suite. It appears that the floorboards in bedroom all end under the metal strip that grips the carpet. However the floorboards in the ensuite look like they have been laid separately - there is an uneven gap, approx 1 inch or a bit more between the end of the bedroom floorboards and the beginning of the ensuite floorboards. The floorboards run in a direction between the rooms if you see what I mean - if you look at the floor between the doorframe the floorboards are in the shape of fingers pointing tip to tip - not sure if that makes sense or not. I can't think of a way of nicely covering the gap which are at the ends of each of the floorboards.

I had thought of a compromise of putting down a sheet of board of some type in ensuite then lino or something on top - it would be hard to lay as the ensuite is higgleydeypiggledy - but I really don't want to do this if I can avoid it.

Any ideas would be welcome. thanks.

Use a timber threshold strip.

Unless your boards are very close fitting won't any drips or spills in the bathroom hit the plasterboard ceiling beneath?
