I am specing up breg plans for an extension.
I have new first floor joists spaning 3metres at 90 degrees from an existing brickwork wall fixing to a new cavity wall. How do I fix new joists to the existing wall? Can joist hangers be keyed in to existing wall? or (my idea) can I rawlbolt a joist against the wall? and hang joists from that using hangers. Also do I fix 30x5 straps to existing wall for lateral support.
Thanks in advance.

I don't think that you will get away with joist hangers or raw bolting a joist to the wall.
If the existing wall is a cavity simply open up pockets in wall and insert new joists.
You only need to open up 1 brick depth to get sufficient seating.
Not sure what you mean about 30x5 straps for lateral support.

There is no problem in using hangers. Except perhaps the practicalities of there being a joint at a suitable height to cut into.

Lateral restraint may be required for external walls parellel to the joists
