Hi can someone please help me i have removed my bath and putting a shower cubicle in at the other side of bathroom. I would like to run the waste pipe under the floor but would need to go through the floor joists would it be safe to drill the joists big enough for a 40mm waste pipe.

thanks

it will greatly depend on the size of the joists, but my instinct says no. there are permissable allowances but these have to be in the joist centre and near the wall bearing.

you will have a job to thread a pipe through the joist centre! notching out is not an option.
