Floor preparation

Hi there. Im currently preparing the lounge floor in our house so that i can lay wood flooring. As the concrete in the lounge is not as level as it needs to be to lay the flooring over the top i need to put down some self leveling screed. Where the floor tiles that were down before have been removed there is still some of what i believe to be the adhesive still left.

What i want to know is does this old adhesive removing before i put down the floor screed and if so does anyone have any suggestions as to a good way to do this other that just sitting there and scraping it off by hand?
