floor seal round wc pot

Hi I had a vinyl tiled floor put down which left a gap around the wc pot, because the pot was loosened to get the underneath but when it was put back by me , I found they hadnt done it as asked, ie they had cut round the base not under the pot as asked . so now I have put the pot back against the wall, because the plumber wouldnt come back and do it, I have been left with a deep gap (the depth of 2 layers, one of wooden flooring and one of tiles on top. i've tried filling the gap with grout and then finishing of with silicone filler , but its too wide and deep. also tried a wide bathroom sealant strip with a crease in it, which would have worked but a long lenth is needed to go round the front of the base and that length dosent like going round such a steep outside curve. It wont stick to both surfaces for long. I need something else, white,wide, thick, looks good that sticks but will allow a curve!

Hi there,

I don't undersatnd why there are "2 layers" did they fit the wooden floor as well before putting the vinyl tiles down.

Have you rung the company to complain that they didnt't install as per youre instructions.

As for the gap, not sure how your going to get around it, maby a narrow strip of upvd facia board would be flexible enough or even a plastic curtain track, both would look a bit guff tho.

yes they laid the wooden floor then came back and laid the tiles.
guess its my fault I should have got them back. When I inspected it ,it looked fine until I realised after they had gone that the pot wasnt attached to the wall (it looked as though it was) once it was pushed back tight the gap appearred. I will try to fine some sort of flexible strip like you suggest. thanks

I'd say fill the gap with something that will set hard, then leave it to dry.

Once hardened, then just put a thin layer of white silicone over the top to finish it off.

yes thanks might try that too, but the gap is wide and although I can fill it up with grout or similar it will the top of surface filling that is difficult to silicone over because its a wide space.

Aslong as your not filling the whole gap with silicone, and just putting a thin layer on the top, it should work fine

Use a fugi kit with silicone and you can get a neat joint easily.
