Floor threshold advice needed

Hello,

I want to sand and restain my wood floor. The threshold detail is a right mess when I lifted the carpet up. There was just a board laid over the brick course. Any ideas what I can do here, the only thing I could think of was tiling it with one or two courses of floor tiles?

Personally I'd have made a shallow, laquered wood ramp, and fix it down using either Gripfix or plugs and screws.

My idea exactly, only have to add: make the threshold a bit higher (5mm) than the floor, leave an expansion gap between threshold and floor and cover that with flat wood beading (5mm high).
