i have a wooden floor downstairs on beams/joists.
I wanted to remove and put in a solid floor concrete/celotex/screed.
on removing some boards i see the floor is concreted below rather than dirt.
can i put a shallower concrete mix on top to disired height or should this be broken out and start again?
Other option can i put a dpm on this concrete then celotex off 100mm then a deeper say 200mm screed?

Yes you can concrete on top

Or use a suitable hardcore to make up the depth rather than a massive amount of concrete

would this be a better way

In practical terms, you would use the least material at the least cost, with the least time and ease.

A typical floor would be 75mm screed, 80mm celotex insulation (or 150 polystyrene), 100mm concrete, DPM, possible 25mm blinding sand than then 100mm hardcore.

So if this total depth is not enough, then you would increase the material which costs you the least per m2 - which would normally be the hardcore

200mm of screed is not recommended though
