Hello

I have just purchased a house which has recently had laminate (or possible wood-engineered) flooring laid - however now that the previous occupants things are out of the way it is clear that there is a large bubble in the living room under the floor.

Is there a simple way to have a look at the cause of this?

Thanks for any advice

OK - will do. Any clues on what to expect? Will it be likely that I can apply adhesive to seal the area down or will the flooring need trimming / altering?

sounds as though the floor has been fitted without enough expansion gap.

how is the expansion gap covered!!!

is there any obviouse pinch points like door frames not undercut or pipes with no expansion gap around them

The edges of the room have skirting nailed over them - will take it down later and see how much space is left. Not sure exactly what you mean by a pinch point but the flooring covers a rectangular space with a wall jutting halfway across out of the middle -

A bit like that :-)
The bulge is on the right side of the room

does the flooring look like it goes under the skirting or can you see cut edges !!!!

a pinch point is where there isnt the minimum expansion gap so when the wood expands it cant expand into the gap because it isnt there so has to "tent"to accomodate the expansion

tenting only usualy happens between 2 points where the floor cant expand
this can be because theres no expantion gap or gap filled or even heavy furniture or floor catching on the face off the skirting rather than underneath for example
