I have to lay old flooring boards on to new screed and have been advised to inset battens into the screed whilst laying the screed and fix the flooring boards onto the battens

can anybody sugest the best method, will the battens be strong enough and capable of accepting fixings for boarding.

board size 140x26mm Would u suggest 50 x50 treated instead of battens thanks
