Flow/Return Question

I have moved a downstairs radiator and changed the pipework, it’s the last radiator downstairs before the flow continues upstairs. I know which is the flow and return on all of the radiators downstairs, but I forgot to check upstairs while they were still connected, so when reconnecting downstairs pipework to the 2 pipes running upstairs, I don’t know which to connect the flow to and which to connect the return. There’s no TRV’s on the radiators upstairs or any arrows on the valves. I’ve attached pictures of the valves. There’s 3 standard radiators and 1 towel rail.

What’s the best approach, can I connect to either and it should work assuming the valves are bidirectional? If I connect to the wrong one will the radiators not get hot and then I can drain down and change?

So I can just connect to either pipe running upstairs and it’ll work?
