Flue leaking water?

Hi all,

Is this normal? I know the condensation should go back into the boiler but it seems to be leaking out of the flue.

With a lot of shorter flue's you can get some condensate being blown out of the flue and down the wall, especially when the boiler starts up under full power. Though the majority of the condensate should be produced at the bottom of the HEX, some of the vapour laden gases from further up can then exit the flue and condense at the colder end of the flue invariably dripping down the wall unfortunately.

I was wondering if I fitted a deflector kit would that stop it? My understanding is the outer part of the flue is an air intake and the middle part is where the product of combustion exits.

Yes, the middle section is where the POC's exit, they are the gases that condense. A plume management kit would probably help with diverting that condensate yes. Alternatively the brickwork is cleaned now and again.
