If it's asbestos either bury it in a box sectionl or get it taken out, don't disturb or use it for anything. It's a banned substance for a reason

Ok, I hear what you guys are saying. The fan does have flaps which are supposed to close it when it's not running, but I do take your point.

Maybe back to the original plan of having a roofer fit an extraction tile.....

Mine has flaps too. Much like Dan's, they rattle in the wind even though they're spring loaded
