Haven't got a chimney in the living room since I ripped out the old back boiler :D , but need heat in there, looking at a fluless gasfire.
Would welcome peoples experiences of them.
Thanks

look at burley fires they are reasonable if you must go down the flueless route, if you have an outside wall then better to fit a balanced flue fire instead.

if you have no respect and don't mind killing a few members of your family then get a fire from B&Poo  need i say more!

A flueless fire will reqire a big air vent so in my opinion it defeats the objective.
As already said, have a look at a balanced flue appliance.

Andy.

Unfortunately we haven't an outside wall to stick the fire on - unless I can find some way of routing it and hiding it at the same time.

Are B&Q that BAD ??

If no outside wall, then get an electric fire. They don't kill people.

If you want it to look like a real fire, then get one from the Dimplex Optimyst range.

I used to have one then I had a problem with the ignition and done some asking on here and looked at other forums and found that alot of gas engineers wont fit these for safety reasons...also found info on a gas engineer who was prosecuted after a young girl died......i ripped it out.....AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE....as somebody has already stated you can get a good electric one

Two people have died from using a barbecue in less than 2 months. Tragic.

I won't say too much out of respect for the bereaved parents of the young girl. Suffice to say, research properly before making bold statements.

Not a gas egineer and no experience of them

BUT

Logically they burn gas in the room producing the usual products of combustion (CO, CO2 etc). They then use a catalyst to render these safe.

There are several parts of the fire which need to work properly for the fire to be safe - if they don't they can kill.

They reduce the amount of oxygen in the room - that is the gas we need to survive.

Finally ask on the plumbing and heating forum - don't expect them to be complimentary..
