Just bought a new ceiling light to put up in my sitting room. because of the lack of height, I have gone for a flush one - only problem is the ceiling is mdf and the fitting is not F rated. The fitting if for 2 x 60 watt bulbs but I was intending to have 2 x 11 watt energy savers instead. This means presumably it will not be running at as hot a temp. I can understand the concern with halogen spotlights in mdf but does anyone have any advice for my situation?

cheers

Get an F rated light. Putting different lamp types in does not make the light suitable.

PS - an MDF ceiling?

If the fitting was going to be under my supervision during lamp changes etc, I'd probably go ahead and fit it. I'd remove it before I vacate the property though.

MDF?
