I have a Mountfield Princess with a lead that goes direct into the machine.

It has failed where the copper has broken inside the flex. You know the score, you waggle the flex in a certain position and the mower fires up.

This plus damage to the flex in several places means I have got a new lead.

It happens to be a Flymo lead.

I have the usual two part connector.

But before I hack off the Flymo connector, is there a male flying connector that I could connect to the mower to connect into the Flymo lead as it is?

I do know the Flymo lead is designed to attach direct to an inlet on the mower itself.

I can't find anything.

The guy in the mower repair shop I bought the lead from said he had something, but when he rummaged around for it, he couldn't find it, so it gives me hope that something exists (or did exist)...

Yes, I got one like that and sent it back today because it is the same as what is on the lead.

Thanks folks.

I considered using the adaptor, but decided in the end to chop the Flymo connector off and use the "Duraplug" two part connector, with the male on the lawnmower and the female on the mains lead.

I dismantled the mower (it had 12x T20 screws holding the two halves of the handle together) and I found the flexes and safety switch was mounted in a separate unit fitted with T20 security screws. Which I didn't have the bit for...Fast forward a couple of days and, with the unit open, I discovered that the safety switch had push fit terminals.

Luckily they had release holes and I was able to use a bradawl to remove the old flex.
I fitted bootlace ferrules to an offcut of orange two core flex from the old lead that was in good nick. I tried without but it was very difficult to get the flex fully into the terminals.

Looking at it now, I could have cut the sheath much neater, but hey ho.

Anyhow, all reassembled and working fine.

So next time the lead wears out where it exits the machine, I know exactly what to do!
