We are planning a loft conversion on our 1900's "2 up 2 down", terrace with a kitchen built off the back some time after. The stairs are moving from the middle to the side wall, starting where the kitchen meets the current dining room. The wall between the kitchen & dining room was removed by the previous owner.

From what I can tell we need fire protection between the kitchen and where the stairs land in the open plan living/diner (where the yellow arrow points) problem is we want the light to come in from the kitchen into the living area as it is fairly dark. The only thing I can think of is keep a large opening between the kitchen and dining room, but have folding or sliding doors to close at night within a new fire stud wall.

Do such things exist, and what kind of cost we talking?

The picture is very poor, hand drawn on the tablet, sorry!

Green is the current stairs, red is an RSJ where the wall was removed before, blue is the wall coming out. Yellow is new stairs, starting with a 3 step winder at the kitchen. Should not make much odds, but the kitchen is about 1 foot below the living / dining room.

Can you take the stairs to ground level to lead directly to the front door (not shown on plan)?

AIUI you need a fully protected exit route to the final exit, not exiting through the lounge.
